Conditioned is not softened.
A true ion-exchange softener removes calcium and magnesium. A salt-free conditioner changes how scale behaves without removing the hardness minerals.
01
Choose a softener for soft water
Ion exchange is appropriate when the goal is measurable hardness removal and the household effects associated with genuinely softened water.
02
Choose conditioning for scale control
Salt-free technologies may be considered when avoiding salt and regeneration is the priority, with the understanding that hardness remains in the water.
03
Choose filtration for a different job
Filters target particular sediment, tastes, odors, or contaminants depending on their tested media. A filter is not automatically a softener.

Compare before-and-after hardness, tested capacity, salt and water efficiency, certification, installation scope, and warranty for the exact system being proposed.
